Detail itinerary for 12 days gorilla and chimpanzee trekking Rwanda safari

Day 1: Airport Pick Up and Transfer

First, you will be picked up at the airport by your guide/driver. Thereafter transfer to any of the booked Hotels for dinner and overnight to get a kick start your Rwandan experience the next day.

Day 2: Visit the Genocide Memorial and Museum

After your breakfast, you will drive to Ntarama with a visit to the genocide memorial and see the remains of the thousands of Rwanda that lost their lives. You will take a break to have your Lunch and continue to Akagera National Park for an evening boat ride along Lake Ihema to spot a variety of birds and animals. Dinner and overnight

Day 3: Morning and Evening Game Drive in Akagera National Park

Wake up to a delicious breakfast and then head out to take an early morning Game drive to spot a variety of wildlife and bird species. Return, have your lunch relax as you wait for your evening activity. You will later in the evening return to the lodge as you wait for your dinner and overnight.

Day 4: Akagera / Nyungwe Forest National Park

After breakfast, you will embark on your journey to Nyungwe Forest National Park. You will have a Stop in Nyanza Museum and Butare museum, here you will get the rich history of the place and take lots of pictures to remember this experience. You will have lunch en‐route and then continue to Nyungwe forest, home to man’s closest relative, the chimpanzees.

Day 5: Chimpanzee Trekking Nyungwe forest National Park

Wake up to your delicious African breakfast and immediately transfer to the starting point for a briefing so you get a feel for the activity you will be about to engage in. You will then set off into the forest for an amazing chimpanzee trekking experience. You will later return to the lodge for your lunch and in the afternoon, enjoy viewing the Colobus monkey on their trails, you should expect to encounter other primates like the Baboons, Vervet monkeys and various species of birds. Return to the lodge for your dinner and overnight.

Day 6: Guided Nature walk trail and canopy walkway.

Wake up to a delicious cup of coffee and then, head out to the forest in search of more primates. Later, return to the lodge for lunch and after your African cuisine, you will head out for the breath-taking forest canopy walk at this point, you will closely see the waterfalls, birds, more primates as well as the amazing forest canopies. Head back to the lodge and relax as you wait for your dinner and overnight.

Day 7: Kibuye transfer to Lake Kivu

Immediately after your breakfast, you will transfer to Kibuye to visit the Bisesero genocide memorial. Kibuye church and after your lunch, you will have a boat ride to Nyange school genocide memorial – a boat ride to Amahoro Island, the Island of Peace. Day 8: Visit Gisenyi and Lake Kivu

Day 9: Visit the Twin Lakes

It is a day to venture out and step into absolute adventure. Day 11: Mountain Gorilla trekking

Wake up to an early breakfast, then head to the park offices for a briefing before your gorilla tracking experience and thereafter enter the forest to search for the mountain Gorillas. The trekking may be a full day or half-day depending on the movement of the gentle giants. When you finally see them, you will be allowed one hour with them to take pictures and observe them as they feed or even play. Return to your booked lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 12: Kigali transfer and departure
