Detailed Itinerary for 7-days Uganda Birding Safari and Wildlife

Day 1: Airport Pickup and transfer to Kampala

On your arrival, you will be received by our representative, who will be both your Uganda Birding safari guide and driver. He will transfer you to your booked hotel in Kampala our Capital City. You will rest the day off as you ought to be fresh for the next day’s activities. Bed and breakfast at the booked safari lodge as chosen by you.

Day 2: Transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park

You will be heading out of Kampala to Queen Elizabeth National Park, after your very early morning breakfast. We leave early so as to avoid the insane early morning traffic jam. You will have a quick stop at the Uganda Equator to take photographs and buy some souvenirs. Continue with your journey to Queen Elizabeth and have a lunch stop in Mbarara town and then head southwest to the stunning Western Rift Valley.

You will arrive in the evening at Queen Elizabeth, check into your safari lodge and head out for a thrilling game drive within the park. Come back from the game drive in time for your dinner accompanied with overnight as pre‐booked Accommodation.

Day 3: Game drive and a Boat ride on Kazinga Channel

The day will be kicked off with a cup of coffee or tea to prepare you for the early morning game drive at 6:30 am through the northern region of this park. The park not only offers exceptional game viewing that is the wildlife but also offers a lot of birders an awesome birding experience. You will drive through the large open savanna grassland plains which are habitat to huge flocks of White Stork and the amazing Saddle‐Billed Stork, particularly in the migratory season.

Raptors are also common, among which are the Brown‐Snake Eagle, Bateleur, Marsha Eagle, Walberg’s Eagle, Grey Kestrel and African‐harrier‐hawk. Head back to the lodge / hotel and relaxes a bit as you wait for your lunch. After you have had your lunch, you will take an exciting boat launch to see hundreds of hippopotamuses, elephants plus several migratory birds, like the Grey‐headed Gulls, African skimmers, and White‐winged black‐Terns, Pink & white‐Backed Pelicans, Mourning Dove and the Water Dickers among others. Return to the lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 4: Transfer to Lake Bunyonyi

You will be transferred to Lake Bunyonyi, Uganda’s Birding site also known as, “the Switzerland of Africa.” Upon arrival, you will check into your accommodation and get to explore the beautiful Lake Bunyonyi which is Uganda’s deepest Lake, located adjacent to the borders. On a clear day, you will catch sight of the magnificent volcano; Mt Muhavura.

Day 5: Islands Visit with an afternoon Nature Walk

After breakfast, you will hire a local canoe to explore the environs while on the water as you float quietly towards the various small Islands to enjoy the prolific birding life. You will later return for lunch and head to Mukoni Village for more Bird watching during the nature walk. You will walk past tiny farms and pleasure in the impressive view as you search for various bird species.

In general, you may see close to 50 diverse bird species on this thrilling walk, among which will be the Swamp Flycatcher, African Hobby, Bronze-chested Sunbird, Scarlet-chested, the White‐headed Saw‐wing and Red‐chested Sunbirds, and Black Kite. You will head back to the lodge ready to retire for the day from your wonderful adventure. Dinner and overnight.

Day 6: Travel Back to Kampala

As today is the last day at Lake Bunyonyi, you will have your breakfast and check out of your safari lodge. You will be driving back to Kampala, with a lunch stop on the way. You should be arriving in Kampala in the late afternoon and dropped off at your hotel or place of residence.

Day 7: Brief City tour with Airport Drop off

You will wake up to a delicious breakfast and then check out of the hotel. You will then be picked up for a brief city tour before continuing to the airport, Entebbe for drop-off with a lunch stop on the way. Meal plan: Breakfast and Lunch
