Detailed itinerary for 4-days Mgahinga Gorilla tracking and Golden Monkey Safari
Day 1: Travel to Mgahinga Gorilla National Park
Your driver will be there to pick you up after your breakfast. It is crucial to begin the journey early so as to beat the morning traffic jam and arrive at the park at a decent hour. You will have a stop at Igongo cultural center for lunch. Continue to Mgahinga Gorilla National Park.
Upon your arrival, you will head to the viewing point of the park; here you will get to see the whole park in its glory with other surrounding areas. It is such a luxurious view that is a must-see! Drive to your booked safari lodge and check-in for dinner and overnight. Meal plan: H/B
Day 2: Mgahinga Gorilla trekking Safari and Batwa experience
After your breakfast, set out to the briefing point where you will be given more insight into the activity and the family you will be tracking and the dos and don’ts of Gorilla tracking. After the briefing and with your packed lunch and plenty of water, you will be ready to begin tracking. When you return from the Gorilla tracking, refresh at the lodge and have a few minutes to catch your breath before you set out again for an experience with the Batwa group of people, indigenous to the Ituri forest of Congo. Return to the lodge for dinner and overnight. Meal plan: F/B
Day 3: Golden monkey trekking/bird watching and nature walk.
After your breakfast, you will get your packed lunch, plenty of drinking water and snacks. Set out to track the Golden monkeys and while doing this, you will be on the lookout to identify different bird species and plant species. You will get some time to have your lunch after your time with these beautiful creatures and continue with your nature walk till evening when you return to the lodge for dinner and overnight. Day 4: Travel back to Kampala
After your breakfast, you will check out of the safari lodge and begin your journey back to Kampala with a stop at the Uganda Equator, get some time to relax, take pictures and get a few souvenirs from the craft market to take with you back home. Continue with your journey back to Kampala at a drop-off location of your choice. Meal plan: H/B
