Detailed itinerary for 16 days magical expedition Uganda and Rwanda (Primate tracking Safari)

Day 1: Arrival at Entebbe or Kampala

Upon your arrival at Entebbe International Airport, you will be warmly welcomed by your safari guide or driver who will help you with your luggage and make sure you have all your stuff, you will then proceed to your booked accommodation for dinner and overnight. Meal plan: halfboard

Day 2: Travel from Kampala to Kibale National Park

After your breakfast, check out of the hotel and begin your journey to Kibale Forest National Park. Drive through the villages and beautiful scenery via Mityana – Mubende highway to Fort portal. We will stop for a lunch break at the Mountains of the Moon Hotel and proceed to Kibale. Upon your arrival, check into your booked safari lodge for dinner and overnight. Meal plan: H/B

Day 3: Chimpanzee trekking in Kibale Forest National Park

After your morning breakfast, drive to Kanyanchu with your guide, the chimpanzee trekking starting point and briefing point. The park ranger will give you tips about the park and some chimpanzee trekking rules before you set off into the forest for your chimpanzee tracking experience. Kibale Forest National Park is a habitat for more than 13 primate species, some of which include, the black and white Colobus monkeys, red Colobus monkeys, Vervet monkeys and the chimpanzees that are most famously visited in this park.

After a thrilling visit with these beautiful creatures, you will return to your lodge for your delicious African cuisine and later in the evening, you will have an evening nature walk to view lots of monkeys, sitatungas and various bird species. Meal plan: full board

Chimpanzee tracking in Kibale Forest National Park

Day 4: Transfer from Kibale Forest to Semliki National Park (120 km, 2 – 5 hrs.)

Transfer to Semliki National Park with chances of seeing the Ruwenzori Mountain ranges. You will stop at the Sempaya Hot Springs in the afternoon in search of various animals that this park has as well as explore the various bird species of this park. Return to the lodge for dinner and overnight. Meal plan: F/B

Day 5: Transfer from Semliki to Queen Elizabeth National Park

Have breakfast and then set off to Queen Elizabeth National Park, an incredibly diverse national park in the type of terrain it encompasses, expect some game viewing on your way to your booked lodge, check in and have lunch. Set out for a thrilling boat trip along the Kazinga Channel,

famous for the highest concentration of Hippos in Africa alongside other animals like the Nile crocodiles, large herds of Elephants and Buffaloes, basking along the water shores, as well as 611 Bird species. The Boat provides a clear platform for photographs and observation. Dinner and overnight at Mweya Safari Lodge /Katara lodge /Bush lodge/Simba safari Camp. Meal plan: F/B

Day 6: Morning Game drive – Afternoon Boat Safari on Kazinga Channel

Wake up to a fresh cup of tea or coffee and set out for an early morning game drive along Kasenyi trail, a good chance to see the early morning risers as they come out of their hiding to feel the warmth of the African sun. After your adventurous morning, you will return to the lodge for a full breakfast.

Get some time to relax and enjoy the beauty around you as you wait for your lunch. Later on in the day, you will have an evening game drive along with the Mweya pen, a great opportunity to enjoy more wildlife viewing and take more unique pictures. Return to your lodge for dinner and overnight. Meal plan: fullboard

Day 7: Kyambura Gorge – Gorilla tracking Bwindi Forest National Park

This day will be sparked off with a thrilling Kyambura gorge chimpanzee tracking after your delicious breakfast. It will be an awesome journey of discovering various primates in the Kyambura gorge as well as coming close one-on-one with man’s closest relative, the chimpanzees. Kyambura gorge is also ideal for butterflies and bird lovers.

Return to your lodge for lunch and check out of the safari lodge. We will drive to Ishasha in the southern sector of Queen Elizabeth National Park for a game drive as we exit the park to head on to Bwindi impenetrable national park. Meal Plan: F/B

Day 8: Gorilla tracking Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park

Wake up to a delicious breakfast and drive to the park headquarters with your packed lunch, you will be briefed about the rules of Gorilla tracking and what to expect during this activity. Make sure to carry plenty of drinking water to stay hydrated during this hard adventure that may involve a lot of walking. The rangers will provide you with a walking stick should you need it during the Gorilla tracking.

From your tracking, return to the lodge for some refreshments and later set out for an evening cultural encounter to experience the typical day to day life of the locals in this area. Return to the lodge for dinner and overnight. Meal plan: full board

Day 9: Nature walk – Visit the Manyanga falls

After your breakfast, you will have a guided nature walk to encounter some of the rarest flora and fauna with lots of beautiful birds. From your nature walk, return to the lodge for lunch and later, check out of the safari lodge and we will set out to briefly visit the beautiful Manyanga’s waterfalls continuing straight to Mgahinga national park. Upon your arrival, you will check into your booked safari lodge for dinner and overnight. Meal plan: F/B

Day 10: Visit Mgahinga National Park

After breakfast, we will venture out to trek the golden monkeys. We will also be looking out to identify various bird species and enjoy the beautiful flora and fauna. Return to your lodge for lunch and later set out for yet another adventure on a cultural encounter with the local people of this area. Dinner and overnight at Mgahinga lodge / Travelers’ Rest Hotel/ Tourist hotel. Meal plan: F/B

Day 11: Visit the Land of thousand Hills

Today we will drive south over the border to Rwanda and head to Volcanoes National park; another home of Gorillas. Enjoy the beautiful scenery as we drive down through southwestern Uganda and come into sight of the dramatic Virunga volcanic peaks. Where you will check into your safari lodge upon arrival for dinner and overnight. Accommodation options: Gorillas Nest Lodge/ Kinigi Guest House /Sabyinyo Silverback Lodge / Virunga lodge: F/B

Day 12: Magical Expedition Gorilla Tracking Rwanda

After your delicious breakfast, prepare for your gorilla trekking adventure in the dramatic Virunga mountains, where you will be briefed before the actual trekking and get the rules that concern tracking. You will then set into the forest to track these gentle giants, enjoying their company and taking plenty of pictures to remember these beautiful moments. You will then return to the lodge for some refreshments and a relaxed evening. Dinner and overnight. Meal plan: f/b

Day 13: Magical Golden monkey trekking and Dian Fossey – Volcanoes National Park

After breakfast, you will take the golden monkey trekking trail to view these beautiful unique monkey species coupled with a guided nature walk. Return for lunch at the lodge and later set out for a visit to Dian Fossey’s Grave. Dinner and overnight at Muhabura Hotel/ Le ‘Bamboo Gorilla Lodge. Meal plan: fullboard

Day 14: Transfer from Volcanoes to Nyungwe Forest National Park

After breakfast, drive to Nyungwe Forest the home of chimpanzees. Get a little briefing on the activity, what to expect and the rules of chimpanzee tracking, you will then be ready to get into the forest and track man’s closest relative, the chimpanzees. Dinner and overnight at your booked lodge. Meal plan: F/B. Accommodation options: Nyungwe Lodge or Gisakura Guest House.

Day 15: Magical Nyungwe Forest National Park

After your breakfast, you will have a nature walk through Nyungwe Forest in search of Chimpanzees and other primates in Nyungwe forest. Nyungwe is one of East Africa’s largest forests, with a total of 13 primates that belong to this forest, and you will get to spend some time with them, the Angolan Colobus monkey and other monkeys. Monkey species, including chimpanzees and the Angolan Colobus monkey. Return to the lodge for dinner and overnight. Meal plan: F/B

Day 16: Transfer from Nyungwe Forest to Kigali city

Drive to Kigali city and enjoy some time shopping for souvenirs before catching your return flight back home. End of your 16 days Magical Expedition Uganda & Rwanda.

Amazing time with lots of baby animals We had an amazing time on our two day safari in Mburo Lake National Park. Adam was our driver/guide and he was very knowledgeable about all the animals and the park. It is a long day of driving both to and from Kampala as it is about 5 hours each way, but very worth it to see the fun animals. Unfortunately there are very few predators in the park so we were unable to see any leopards, however, we saw many baby animals including giraffes, baboons, hippos and zebras. Our stay at the eagle's nest was wonderful with yummy food and great views. During our time parts of the grass were being burned so there was some smoke and burnt grassy areas, but it is necessary to maintain the health of the grasslands. So maybe if you can avoid August, that would be better. All in all a great trip. Can recommend as a weekend activity!

Definitely get out of Kampala and check these spots out! Paddy & Patricia were absolutely fantastic looking after me on this luxury safari experience. The care for the customer is excellent with this company. Paddy was an absolute gent, great rapport with every company and stop we had during the trip. He looked out for me having an eggless breakfast, nothing was trouble for the team. So relaxing and fun. My highlight was seeing the giraffes and leopard & lions in Murchison and the Devil's cauldron.

I’ve just returned from my fourth in Uganda with Simba and once again they delivered an unforgettable experience from start to finish. The team truly knows how to craft seamless, exciting, and stress-free journeys. Both for trips with friends or my family. From the very first inquiry to the last day of our trip, their team was always quick to respond. Even when we had a few last-minute changes to our room bookings during the safari. They handled everything promptly. Each safari was led by knowledgeable, friendly guides who clearly love what they do. Their insights into wildlife behaviour, the parks, and local cultures added so much value to the trip. Everything was organised exactly as requested. From comfortable transportation and quality lodges (including the exact lodges and room arrangements requested by us) to well-timed transfers and game drives. When comparing options with other operators, I found Simba to be very fairly priced with no hidden fees or surprises. Their transparency and honesty in pricing made it easy to plan and budget for the trip with confidence. The payment was easy as well. They offered me payment by bank transfer or by card. Wonderful trip to Nyungwe We had an amazing experience traveling with Simba African Expeditions for our 5 day trip in Rwanda. Patricia answered very efficiently to all our requests and helped us customize the trip to our liking. During our trip Tonny was a great guide. He was patient, drove responsibly and made arrangements with all our activities so they went smoothly, we felt very well taken care of! During our trip we spent our time around Nyungwe national park and lake Kivu. The scenery was beautiful and with our itinerary we got to both have an active holiday with chimpanzee trekking, hiking and kayaking, as well as calmer activities like visiting a coffee plantation. Would recommend traveling with Simba Africa expeditions and Rwanda as a destination :)

1 day Lake Mburo Safari We had a great 1 day safari to Lake Mburo. We saw SO many zebras,giraffes, and hippos; among other animals. We stopped at the equator for a photo and a quick demonstration. Ashiraf our safari guide was very nice and efficient. Patricia was very helpful and quick with email and whatsapp communication. It was a little a little stressful trying to get back to make our flight(NOT OUR DRIVERS FAULT, UG traffice is VERY UNPREDICTABLE!) Overall a great day trip and i recommend!
