Detailed itinerary for 17 days wildlife expedition safari

Day 1: Entebbe or Kampala

Upon your arrival at the airport, our driver or guide will welcome and help you with your luggage into the car and make sure you are comfortable before transferring you to your booked accommodation for a relaxed evening and overnight. Kampala Serena Hotel / Emin Pasha Hotel / Cassia Lodge / Hotel Triangle or Red Chili Tourist Backpackers Hostel. Meal plan: H/B

Day 2: Travel from Kampala to Murchison Falls (311 km, 5 hours)

After your breakfast, you shall be picked up by your driver to embark on your journey to Murchison Falls National Park. Do stop by Ziwa Rhino sanctuary for Rhino tracking and search for the rare shoebill while enjoying canoeing. Have lunch and after visit the top of the falls. Dinner and overnight at Paraa lodge /Chobe lodge /Nile safari lodge / Red chilli rest camp. Meal plan: F/B

Day 3: Game drive and a Boat ride in Murchison Falls National Park

Have breakfast, then head to the Northern part of the park to view and take photographs of wildlife game drive of elephants, buffalos, waterbucks, hippos, giraffes, Uganda Kobs, and lions, if you are lucky, you might catch a glimpse of the shy African leopards, plus a variety of bird species. having finished with your lunch, proceed for a 2-hour boat cruise to the bottom of the mighty Murchison falls from where the rushing water escapes through a narrow gorge forming a great thunder.

An opportunity to see the amazing hippos and crocodiles along the riverbanks. Return to the lodge for dinner and overnight. Meal plan: F/B

Day 4: Transfer from Murchison Falls to Kibale Forest National Park

Transfer to Kibale Forest National Park after your breakfast, driving Southwest through the Albertine Escarpment of the great Western Rift Valley to reach the colorful and beautiful town of Fort Portal, the capital of the Toro kingdom, situated in the shadow of the fabled Rwenzori ranges. On your arrival, you will have a guided nature walk at Bigodi, a good chance to spot a variety of birds like the loveliest and rare shoebill, white and Black Colobus monkey, and Vervet monkey and much more. Dinner and overnight at Ndali lodge/ Kyaninga lodge/Kibale safari lodge/ Mountains of the Moon Hotel / Chimp Nest. Meal plan: F/B

Day 5: Kibale Forest National Park

Take your breakfast, and then head out to visit Kibale Forest National Park, which is reputed to have the greatest variety and highest concentration of primates in East Africa. The most famous of its 13 species is the chimpanzee, our closest relative. Short  briefing done before setting out into the tropical rainforest to explore the wild primate species like the wild chimpanzees, red-tailed monkeys, black and white colobus monkeys and many others. Return to your lodge for lunch and get some time of relaxation before another adventure of exploring the Crater Lake region around Lake Nakuru. Return to the lodge for dinner and overnight. Day 7: Transfer from Kibale Forest to Queen National Park

After breakfast and checking out of the safari lodge, we will set out for a briefing at the park headquarters about the dos and don’ts of chimpanzee tracking as well as what to expect during this activity. Then set out into the forest to track the man’s closest relative with your packed lunch. Upon finishing the great moment experience with man’s closest relative, you will drive straight to Queen Elizabeth National Park following the mystical Rwenzori Mountain Ranges. As you go through the game park you might spot some wild game on your way to the lodge. Check into your lodge for dinner and overnight. Meal plan: F/B

Day 8: Game drive and Boat ride in Queen Elizabeth

Wake up to an early morning cup of coffee/tea before setting off for a game drive along with the Kasenyi track and Queen’s mile. Expect to see some interesting wildlife and at this time of day, you can be hopeful for some action as the cats go on a wild hunt for the perfect prey for breakfast. Return to your lodge for a full breakfast and relax before your lunch and an adventurous boat cruise on the Kazinga Channel, a great opportunity to view the prolific birdlife and the largest concentration of hippos. Return to the lodge for dinner and overnight. Meal plan: F/B

Day 9: Kyambura Gorge – Ishasha wildlife expedition

Drive to Kyambura gorge after your breakfast for awesome chimpanzee tracking. You will also get a high chance of viewing other primates, as well as numerous bird species. You will then return to the lodge for Lunch and after checking out of the lodge drive to the Ishasha sector of Queen Elizabeth National Park in search of the tree-climbing lions. You will then drive direct to Queen Elizabeth national park for dinner and overnight. Meal plan: F/B

Day 10: Gorilla tracking Bwindi Forest National Park

After your breakfast and briefing from the guides before you set off for the mountain’s gorilla tracking inside the Bwindi Forest. You need to carry drinking water, a rain jacket and jungle boots while the rangers will provide you with a walking stick. Gorilla tracking is enriching as you walk through the thick rainforest. Return to the lodge for dinner and overnight. Meal plan: F/B

Day 11: Community walk – Lake Bunyonyi

Take breakfast, and later visit the local communities around the park and experience the lifestyle of the community. Return for lunch at your lodge before making a scenic journey to Kabale through the beautiful terrain of the rolling hills with terraced landscape. Meal plan: F/B

Day 12: Boat ride on Lake Bunyonyi

Today you will enjoy birding and canoeing activities at Lake Bunyonyi; the deepest and most beautiful lake in Uganda. head out for a guided nature walk, go for a birding walk, go for canoeing or canoe trekking, take a swim or visit the local community. Return to the lodge for dinner and overnight. Meal plan: F/B

Day 13: Visit Land of thousand Hills

Have your breakfast, you will drive south over the border to Rwanda and head to Volcanoes National Park; another home of Gorillas where we will check in Gorillas Nest lodge/Kinigi Guest House /Sabyinyo Silverback Lodge / Virunga lodge. Enjoy the scenery as we drive down through southwestern Uganda and come into sight of the dramatic Virunga volcanic peak. Meal plan: F/B

Day 14: Rwanda Gorilla Tracking

Another day for the second honeymoon gorilla trekking in the Virunga. You will wake up to your early morning breakfast and then head to the park headquarters for a briefing before trekking the mountain Gorillas, a wonderful experience that will be a part of your memory forever, when you finally with these gentle giants, you can take pictures and view them for a maximum of one hour.

The time you will have with these gentle giants will be an incredibly educative experience, one that will live on and on in your memory coupled with a Gorilla tracking certificate to remind you of this great achievement in every way. Return to the lodge for dinner and overnight. Meal plan: F/B

Day 15: Golden Monkey and Visit Dian Fossey

Check out of your safari lodge, you will then have a briefing before trekking the golden monkeys and with your packed lunch, you will proceed to the starting point and begin your trek, looking out for various tree species and various plants as well that are significant to this forest. After your lunch, you will visit Dian Fossey’s Grave. Return to your lodge for dinner and overnight at Muhabura Hotel / Le’Bambou Gorilla Lodge. Meal plan: F/B

Day 16: Kigali city tour and departure

We will drive to Kigali town and have a short city tour after lunch, visit the local craft market to look for some souvenirs to take back home with you. Meal plan: F/B
