Detailed itinerary for 7-days Uganda Primate recap safari.

Day 1: Drive to Fort Portal Town with an Afternoon Cultural Walk Experience

You will be picked up by your driver or guide for the safari. He will be at your hotel for the pickup around 6:30 am. As always, it’s better to start the journey early to get you to your destination on time for the various activities you will be participating in. A lunch stop will be made on the way and after lunch, you will proceed to Kibale Forest National Park.

Upon arrival, you will head straight to the starting point of the cultural walk and take a look at the beautiful art and crafts that the locals make, you may even want to buy a little souvenir and gifts for family and friends back home. These walks are organized by Kibale Association for Rural Environmental Development, located in the Magombe swamp. The walk will start at 2:00 pm and for about 2 hours. You will then retire for the day and head back to your safari lodge for overnight and dinner.

Day 2: Chimpanzee habituation experience (CHEX)

You will be having an early breakfast and grab your packed lunch to head to Kanyanchu for briefing 30 minutes prior to your activity which will start at exactly 7:00 am. You will literally be following the chimpanzees from morning to dawn. This is also an amazing activity for bird watchers because Kibale is one of the National Parks that is blessed with a wide variety of different bird species as you do your habituation with the chimpanzees, chances are you will get to see different bird species.

Day 3: Guided Nature Walk with Transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park

In the morning after you have had your breakfast and checked out of your hotel, you will embark on the journey to Queen Elizabeth National Park. Upon arrival, you will check into your safari lodge, have lunch, and have an afternoon of relaxation.

Day 4: Early morning launch trip with evening game drive (Kasenyi sector)

Wake up early and have your breakfast as you will be going for the early launch cruise. The boat trip is done along the Kazinga Channel where you are exposed to a variety of different animals like Buffalos, Elephants, Hippos, and lots and lots of beautiful birds. You will return back to your safari lodge after the boat cruise, have lunch and feel free to relax as you wait for your evening game drive. The drive will take anywhere between 2-3 hours or less. Return to your safari lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 5: Game Drive in the Ishasha sector and transfer to Bwindi

The game drive will be done quite early in the morning so make sure you wake up in time before we set off for the game drive around 6:30 am, this is a good time to see various animals getting up from their slumber and starting their day. You should have your coffee/tea before you begin the game drive to sort of wake you up.

Later after the game drive, you will drive back to your safari lodge for your full breakfast, check out of the lodge and drive straight to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park where you will arrive in the late evening and check into your booked safari lodge. You will have a relaxed evening. Dinner and overnight.

Day 6: Gorilla Tracking Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park

You will have an early breakfast and drive to the briefing point where you will get some briefing 30 minutes before your scheduled tracking time which is normally 8:00 am. In addition to your packed lunch, you must carry drinking water, a rain jacket, and jungle boots while the rangers will provide you with a walking stick.

Gorilla tracking is enriching and rewarding as you walk through the thick rain forest seeing the unique vegetation and different bird species. You will head back to the safari lodge and get some rest. Dinner and overnight.
