Murchison Falls is nestled in the northwest of Kampala, with a drive lasting for about 4-5 hours by road; it is home to powerful waterfalls. Murchison Falls is a remarkable destination that offers various activities, including a boat cruise along the Victoria Nile, memorable bird watching during boat trips, and game driving. Additionally, visitors can enjoy wildlife viewing on the northern banks, which feature open savanna and woodland vegetation, providing opportunities to encounter four of Uganda’s big five animals: the cape buffalo, African elephants, leopards, and lions, as well as various antelope families.

Game drives: In records, Murchison Falls has 144 species of mammals. The northern banks of Murchison Falls, which are characterized by open savanna and acacia woodland, offer everlasting and memorable game viewing while encountering four of the Uganda Big Five animals that include buffalo, elephants, leopards, and lions. Although Murchison Falls has no rhinos, tracking can be done at Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary, which is off the Kampala-Gulu highway before reaching the park. A stopover experience that lasts for two hours before proceeding to Masindi.

Boat cruise: A daily activity, which runs upstream from Paraa Jetty towards the base of the falls and lasts for two hours on the Victoria Nile, is scheduled daily in the morning starting from 9:00 am and in the afternoon from 2:00 pm, while on a boat trip, various aquatic animals are spotted which includes; Nile crocodiles and Hippopotamus and water birds like cormorant and Goliath herons, shoebill, green breasted pitta near delta swamp

It has been recorded in three habituated groups; however, the most recommended and approved one for trekking by the Jane Goodall Institute is found in the Kaniyo Pabidi community. However, Kibale Forest National Park is the best-known destination for chimpanzee trekking experiences.

Bird watching: a record of 450 bird species is found in Murchison Falls. Although the shoebill and green-breasted pitta are rare bird species to be spotted, they are sighted in the delta swamp and upstream Nile. Other birds include the grey crowned crane, secretary bird, and Abyssinian ground hornbill in the savanna and grasslands.
