In order to prevent the endangered species from going extinct, two African wild dogs—a male and a female—were successfully introduced to the Uganda Wildlife Educational Center. Originally known as painted wolves or scientifically as “Lycaon pictus,” they had gone extinct in Uganda. However, through Conservation through Commercialization (CTC), they donated two African wild dogs to the Uganda Wildlife Educational Center (UWEC), increasing the total number of animal species to 69.

On the day of the African wild dog’s release at UWEC, Thomas Price, the founder of Conservation through Commercialization (CTC), was present and strongly suggested that the partnership would strengthen and maintain the endangered species from getting extinct, African painted wolves are indigenous to Sub-Saharan savanna and open plains of Africa
