Lake Mburo game drive experience is done in the smallest Savannah and closet National Park from Kampala city that is 240 km, covering an area of 370 square kilometers. Because of its easy of accessibility from Capital city, make it an ideal destination park for wildlife game viewing experience. With unique game drives in the national park, the park has over 69 species of mammals that are spotted, which mainly includes; burchell’s zebra, impala’s, cape buffalo, elands, topis and re-introduced Rothschild’s giraffes. Game Drive categories in Lake Mburo National Park

All Lake Mburo game drives are conducted in a 4×4 safari vehicles with opened roof pop — up for clear game viewing and mandatory accompaniment with Uganda Wildlife authority armed ranger for security and safety purpose against wildlife, with the game drives being either self or guided drives, that is day or night drive and take place all year around.

  • Morning game drive: Which usual start at 6:30 am and always last about (two— three hours). Because of cool temperature, you get to spot Zebras and impalas mostly.
  • Afternoon game drive:  This is a golden hour for photographers and start from (3:00 – 5:00 pm) last for two hours•
  • Night game drive: always accompanied by Uganda Wildlife authority armed ranger and starts normally at 7:00 pm last for (two –three hours) to spot nocturnal wildlife such as spotted hyena, leopards and genets with help of spotlight torches.

Prices for game drive in Lake Mburo National Park

In the park, all game drives are done in a customized 4×4 Safari vehicles with a pop-up roof for photography and clear sighting, charged depending on the car, the person and the time: for foreign non-residence, it’s $40 per person; for foreign residence, $30 per person; for East African, it’s 20,000 UGX per person; and Vehicle entrance at 30,000 UGX, with all these fees applying every 24hours.

For best seasons to do or take on Lake Mburo game drives are (June – September and December – February) because the months are dry seasons with clear spotting of wildlife such as zebras, impala’s, hyena, Uganda kob, buffaloes, elands, giraffes, crocodiles, and hippopotamus.

  • Cultural tour: Although it is not so commonly done, however when time permits; you can visit local Community and directly interact with them, sharing their ways of livelihood.
