Detailed itinerary for 14 days adventure Rwanda with gorilla and chimpanzee trekking safari
Day 1: Transfer to booked accommodation in Kigali
Upon your arrival at the Airport meet your guide or driver to welcome you and help you with luggage into the car. He will then transfer you to your booked hotel for dinner and overnight.
Day 2: Kigali City Tour Adventure
After your breakfast, you will be picked up by your driver to start the city tour to visit landmarks of Kigali solaire, stade, regional, Kigali genocide memorial site, Kandt Museum, and Belgian camp. Transfer to Bugesera in the afternoon to visit the reconciliation village, Nyamata and Ntarama genocide churches. Return to your lodge for dinner and overnight. Meal plan: Full Board
Day 3: Transfer from Kigali to Akagera National Park
After your breakfast, you will transfer to Kirehe after lunch, visit Imigongo and practice ancient artisan in the region and later get to watch the waterfalls in Rusumo on the border of Tanzania and Rwanda. You will then proceed to Akagera National Park a home to wild game species. Dinner and overnight at Akagera game lodge. Meal plan: F/B
Day 4: Game drive in Akagera National Park and Village visit.
Wake up in time for an early morning game drive after you have had your breakfast. Drive through the trails to view various wildlife species and birds and return to your lodge for lunch after your game viewing experience. After departing to the northern part of the park and visiting the Pastoral heritage. Return to the lodge for dinner and overnight. Meal plan: F/B
Day 5: Morning Game drive in Akagera and Boat ride on Lake Ihema
After your breakfast, you will have another morning game drive to search for more wildlife. Return to the lodge for lunch and get some time to catch your breath from all the busyness of the morning. You will then set out for an exciting afternoon boat ride on Lake Ihema to spot aquatic wildlife like crocodiles, hippos and over 50 species of water birds like pelicans, and sunbirds among others. Day 6: Transfer to Ruhengeri and visit Twin Lakes
After your breakfast, you will transfer to Ruhengeri for ethnobotany tours, Lunch en-route and later visit the twin lakes of Burera and Ruhondo after your lunch and later set out for a visit to the community project initiatives activities for activities like brick making and honey harvesting. Dinner and overnight at Kinigi guest house. Meal plan: full board
Day 7: Gorilla tracking Volcanoes National Park
You will have your breakfast early and attend a short briefing to help you get acquainted with the gentle giants. After your briefing, you will head straight into the Volcanoes Forest with your packed lunch and may need as your tour guide will advise. Visit Buhanga forest for Kinigi cultural Village. Dinner and overnight at Le’mbambou Gorilla lodge / Kinigi guest house. Meal plan: full board
Day 8: Community excursion and visit Lake Kivu
You will head out to visit the Banana and Sorghum beer production plants after your breakfast and then transfer to the shores of Lake Kivu to relax as you swim at the shores of Lake Kivu. Dinner and overnight at Lake Kivu Hotel. Meal plan: full board
Day 9: Visit Gisenyi town and Goma.
After your breakfast, take a tour of Gisenyi town. After a visit to Goma town in Congo. Then transfer by boat to Kibuye with an en-route visit to Amahoro Island. Dinner and Overnight at your lodge in Kibuye town. Meal plan: full board
Day 10: Visit Kibuye and Nyungwe Forest
Transfer by boat to Cyangugu – Kamembe town after breakfast, relax at the lakeside. Dinner and Overnight at Nyungwe forest lodge or Gisakura guest house. Meal plan: FB
Day 11: Chimpanzee trekking Nyungwe Forest National Park and Canopy walkway
After your breakfast, you will head to the park headquarters for a briefing and then into the forest for an adventurous chimpanzee trekking. You may get to see other primates like the Black and white colobus monkey, and Vervet monkey in Nyungwe Forest National Park. You will return to your lodge for Lunch after which you will have a canopy walk to get to experience other primates, birds and scenic views of canopies. Return to the lodge for dinner and overnight. Day 12: Guided nature walk in Kamiranzovu swamps and visit waterfalls.
Visit the Kamiranzovu swamps after breakfast. View other Primates species like the black and white colobus, Mountain monkey, and spot the birds. Dinner and overnight. Meal plan: full board
Day 13: Transfer from Nyungwe Forest to Kigali City
You will visit the National Museum after breakfast. Get to learn about Rwanda kingdoms discover the colonial architecture and enjoy traditional dancers from the museum or the national university. After lunch, visit the King’s palace and traditional home where you will cook and share lunch with the family. En route visit the Basilica of Kabgayi and back to Kigali. For dinner and overnight. Day 14: Brief Kigali city tour then departure
Have breakfast, then take another city tour and go for Souvenir shopping in local handicraft markets and transfer to the airport for your return flight back home after your Rwandan adventure.
